Mallorca Balance Yoga Retreat

Alaró Mallorca (Spain)

Why should I go?

This retreat is designed to bring balance into your mind and body by utilizing yoga, nutrition, rest, and play in a beautiful part of the world. We will discover the connection to ourselves as we discover the island of Mallorca, home of many beaches, hiking, caves, culture, and more.

Each day will start with a meditative yoga practice in the yoga room on site, followed by a nourishing vegetarian breakfast buffet. We will provide a second class or workshop during the day, as well as lunch. The afternoon is for exploring which could be with the group or on your own. Excursions on the island can be booked separately! It’s always an option to stay at the house and enjoy the calm - and the pool!

The Venue

This Mallorcan manor used to belong to the descendants of the Viscount of Bearn. For centuries this area in Mallorca, called Alaro, has prospered due to the high-quality vineyards and olive groves in the mountains near the town. The house is located in the heart of the village and has been lovingly maintained and recently refurbished. Alaro is 25-30 minutes from the Palma Airport and is at the foot of the Tramuntana mountain range declared a world heritage UNESCO site in 2011 which is perfect for hiking. The retreat venue is a one minute walk to the town’s center square that has many bars, restaurants, and bakeries. There is a busy Saturday morning market in town, but the retreat is protected and secluded by the tall garden walls. Alaro is the perfect way to experience true village life while still having the chance to adventure on the island.

About Us

Christine Ghinder

Christine Ghinder's yoga journey began in the spring of 2013 in a yoga practice and theory course at The Ohio State University. Yoga became a physical supplement to her lifelong dance practice, but she found that yoga was an even greater supplement to her life mentally and emotionally. Christine graduated from OSU in 2016 with a BFA in Dance, a degree that brought her knowledge in kinesiology and Alexander technique, which has helped her to understand alignment within yoga. Christine did her 200-hour YTT with Soul Ascension Yoga in July of 2016, where she learned the power of taking time for herself and diving deep with yoga. Christine has been teaching for over a year at Invoke Studio in Indianapolis and leads the Introduction to Yoga workshop along with teaching regular classes. She hopes to continue to lead retreats around the world, as travel is one of her greatest passions and she believes everyone should take the time to explore the one earth we have. Christine will complete another 150 hours of yoga teaching training in June 2019.

Renske Ensing

Renske discovered yoga and pilates back in 2007 just as a form of physical exercise. But it wasn't until 2014 when the transformative power of yoga and meditation helped her recover from stress and burnout. After taking her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Soul Ascension Yoga in Florida in July of 2016 Renske started Gaja Yoga and taught yoga in her local community in Groningen while working in IT during the day. Because of her love for the healing abilities of  Yin yoga she did another Teacher training that specialises in Yin Yoga in Dublin in 2018 and plans to keep learning in that direction.

In 2019 Gaja Yoga evolved into Simple. Yoga, Food, Wellness@work and Renske is now a fulltime entrepreneur. Teaching yoga, organising workshops and retreats, catering and advising businesses about health and wellness in a work environment.
