Beginner Yoga Workshop

Curious about yoga, but don't want to go to a class without any experience? Join this workshop to learn the basics so that you can safely and confidently move through a yoga class at your own pace. We will focus on syncing the breath with the movements, alignment and modifications (so you know which props to use and when). When you leave you feel perfectly at home on a yogamat!

Neck, shoulders upper back

If you want to learn to treat your neck and shoulders with respect again this workshop is for you!

 

Neck, shoulder and back pain is often caused by bad posture (computer work) Many of us work on a computer and often sit there for several hours.

The stress response (how do you deal with stress?) also plays a very important role in the development of these symptoms.

 

During this workshop we are going to work on postures to loosen the neck and shoulders, to make room in the chest and shoulders. 

Besides the physical aspect, we are paying attention to breathing techniques which can be used in times of stress or pressure. 

 

You will learn some simple exercises you can use during your (working) day in order to correct your own posture and prevent future neck, shoulder or back pain.

back to nature

 

We all know how invigorating it is to walk outside on a sunny day and how our dullness and tiredness disappears as we stand with our feet on the earth  and turn our gaze to the sky.

 

During this outdoor yoga class (75 mins), we let our yoga poses be inspired by the nature surrounding us. The connection between yoga and nature is ancient. Think of Tadasana (Mountain Pose) or Vrksasana (Tree Pose).

After the yoga session, there is a guided meditation of 30 minutes and we will end with tea and chocolate.

 

Because this class takes place outside and you are laying/sitting still during savasana and meditation it is wise to bring an extra vest / jacket. Also blankets are provided.

Chair yoga

Yoga on the chair includes the same items as all other types of yoga; movement (asanas), breathing exercises and meditation or relaxation exercises. The chair is used as a tool in a number of ways to perform the exercises. Not all exercises are performed whilst sitting on the chair.

 

During the workshop we can alter the exercises if necessary by slowing down the posture and simplifying it, so that everyone can participate. Comfort is the key word here.

 

Chair Yoga is especially suitable for people who can't stand or lie down for longer periods of time, have a chronic illness or are recovering from illness but still want to enjoy the positive effects of yoga.
